Zoey P。,
While this book was a quick and fun read, I felt like the characters were lacking in personality and depth。 There were also many plot holes that did not make sense and felt like things came to easily for the main character。 I really enjoyed the dystopian world mixed with fairytale aspect, however, there felt like there was no reasoning or explanation for most of the plot points。 This book is a fun sapphic read and I do believe it is worth reading if that is something you are interested in。

I’ve always liked retellings, so I enjoyed this darker take on the Cinderella story。 The way the world and its characters were written was quite realistic。 The book was quick and easy to get through as the premise was quite simple, which is always a treat。 I’ve heard some mixed reviews, but this exceeded my expectations for sure。The only issue I had was the strange pacing。 Too many things happened in a short amount of time。 The author tried to pack too many things in and ended up rushing through I’ve always liked retellings, so I enjoyed this darker take on the Cinderella story。 The way the world and its characters were written was quite realistic。 The book was quick and easy to get through as the premise was quite simple, which is always a treat。 I’ve heard some mixed reviews, but this exceeded my expectations for sure。The only issue I had was the strange pacing。 Too many things happened in a short amount of time。 The author tried to pack too many things in and ended up rushing through scenes that were more important。 There was a lot of build up all for it to be resolved in about five pages。 All in all, I recommend this book to fans of dark retellings and quick reads。 。。。more

Lea,
I really liked the storyline and the plots, there were a lot of plottwists, the romance was everything, the betrayal HURT and it was very fast paced。 I just felt like the ending was a bit rushed and the plottwists were revealed like normal conversations if you know what I mean。 It’s a really good book tho and I enjoyed reading it。

It's not necessary to talk down to your audience when you are writing a book for teens or children。 As a matter of fact, it makes for a better book if you don't。 I definitely felt like this book was dumbed down。 Also, it was set in the time of fairy tales, so the use of modern language was offputting。 The writing was definitely not the best。 The dialogue is so bad。 For example, the king actually uses the phrase "meddling wench。" The main character, Sophia, was not likeable。 Constance is much mor It's not necessary to talk down to your audience when you are writing a book for teens or children。 As a matter of fact, it makes for a better book if you don't。 I definitely felt like this book was dumbed down。 Also, it was set in the time of fairy tales, so the use of modern language was offputting。 The writing was definitely not the best。 The dialogue is so bad。 For example, the king actually uses the phrase "meddling wench。" The main character, Sophia, was not likeable。 Constance is much more interesting。 In addition, the king is a one-dimensional bad guy。 The first half of the book is extremely slow。 Nothing really happens until the ball。 Furthermore, while the animosity between Contance and Amina is explained, it is overplayed。 I did enjoy the magical aspects of the book。 Also, the double twist at the end was good。 Overall, though, I would not recommend it。 。。。more

Jacquelyn Dunn,
Look, this book is terrible。 The story idea was a good one—it’s hard to go wrong with smashing the patriarchy while highlighting the issues with the Cinderella story。 And I really love the fairytale retelling genre, so all signs pointed to a good read。 But this book was just so poorly done。 The writing was obnoxious and repetitive, the main character was incredibly selfish (oh you don’t want to die for me? Well obviously you don’t love me then)。 I was so disappointed。 I would not recommend this Look, this book is terrible。 The story idea was a good one—it’s hard to go wrong with smashing the patriarchy while highlighting the issues with the Cinderella story。 And I really love the fairytale retelling genre, so all signs pointed to a good read。 But this book was just so poorly done。 The writing was obnoxious and repetitive, the main character was incredibly selfish (oh you don’t want to die for me? Sadie Wilson,
I loved this book for the fighting of women’s right and the queer communities representation in the world。 Cinderella is Dead is the perfect read for anyone, unless your favorite Disney princess is Cinderella then just take caution to the rewrite。 This is an important boon to empower women; letting see we are worth the fight and we can change our world on women at a time。
Sara Casaletto,
Such a fun quick, strong spirited read。 A really empowering story that highlights a lot of the issues that women face in an “equal” world today。 Would recommend for a vacation read, as the writing is colorful and bright even in a dark plot。 My only comment would be that the story could have been a touch further developed in the plot and character history。
Olivia ☆,
Sydney,
4。5/5I really enjoyed this version of the retelling。 I really tipped the original story on its head, and I really appreciated the creativity behind that。 I only took off a half star because I felt like the main conflict resolved fairly quickly。 I kind of just wanted a little more action to wrap up this book。

I got sucked into this more than I thought I would! Only thing I wanted more of was more going on the the mystery/story surrounding Cinderella’s past。
tiana,
The plot had a lot of potential to be one of my favorites。 I love the idea of making an original fairytale dystopian but unfortunately I don’t think the execution was all that great。 I personally found the writing to be a bit clumsy at times and the mc came off as annoying in the beginning
Német Tamara,
I loved the idea of the book because it starts when Cinderella is actually dead。 Of course not just because of this。 I pretty much liked the plot and the secrets that weren't secrets at the end。 I really liked the character of Constance but I had some problems with Sophia。 She is that typical YA main character who is much braver than anyone but also makes mistakes。 Sometimes she acts childish or kinda weird that bothered me。But this doesn't really change anything。 I could read and still enjoy it I loved the idea of the book because it starts when Cinderella is actually dead。 Of course not just because of this。 I pretty much liked the plot and the secrets that weren't secrets at the end。 I really liked the character of Constance but I had some problems with Sophia。 She is that typical YA main character who is much braver than anyone but also makes mistakes。 Sometimes she acts childish or kinda weird that bothered me。But this doesn't really change anything。 I could read and still enjoy it so much。 。。。more
